In the ultimate quest for inner beauty and outer radiance, Marie Claire asks our favorite pioneers to share information about finding balance in their busy lives. Read it all here, in Beauty inside and out.

Trinity Mouzon Wofford wants to rid wellness of the “impractical” and “expensive” labels that often accompany it. For her, it is a personal passion: Mouzon Wofford’s mother suffers from an autoimmune disease; When her mother switched to a holistic-minded doctor, she saw a great improvement in her health, that is, until her mother could no longer afford the doctor. “It really made me take a break and think about what I wanted to do in terms of wellness and how accessibility played out,” says Mouzon Wofford. So in 2017, she teamed up with her high school sweetheart to launch Golde, a wellness brand offering superfood blends and beauty products (think turmeric lattes and papaya masks). . She launched a product and now has a collection of blends, kits, supplements and more. Now you can find Golde goodies all over Instagram and if you’re lucky hook them up on their website (the products sell out frequently due to high demand). Below, the co-founder and CEO explains how she focuses, her skincare routine, and her healthy, yes, healthy mushroom brownie recipe.

Inner beauty

Gardening:
I am a strong advocate of work-life balance. Part of the reason I started my own business is that I really love working hard and I love what I do, but I believe in taking time.
from there too. My biggest personal care isn’t necessarily the classics, like a bubble bath, but more so, getting out and taking a moment to be in nature. Last year, like everyone else on the planet, I started obsessively gardening.

Golden Mushroom Shield:
I make what we call a ‘shroom latte’ with this superfood blend, which is basically a creamy cocoa powder with some functional mushrooms added to it as well. It’s really great for stress and boosting your immune system. And I find it really helps me relax.

Candles:
I am very lucky to be in a family of candle makers. My in-laws own a Kobo Candles business. They hand-pour each candle at a factory not too far from where we live in upstate New York. They have this collection called the “seed collection”, and all the scents are classic summer scents, like sunflower or ripe tomato. It’s so beautiful. I really like to burn that one in the house.

Acupuncture:
I am big on acupuncture. I haven’t been in ages because of the [Covid-19] stop, but I can’t wait to get back to it. It helps a lot with the tension in my neck and shoulders.

Elongation:
I do any form of stretching whenever possible. Sometimes I do a yoga video, but usually I just do a stretch. I literally contort into shapes that make me feel good.

Outer glow

Daily Regenerating Cleansing Gel Circumference:
I like to keep my skincare pretty natural. I have a few different brands that I really like, and almost all of them are small businesses because I want to be able to help people on their own entrepreneurial journey. I loved this regenerating face wash from Circumference. It’s a gentle, classic cleansing gel, but there’s something so luxurious about it. They really like to recycle the ingredients and create some very thoughtful formulas. You can just feel it when you try the product. I use it twice a day, every day.

Palermo Hydrating Facial Tonic:
For the second step in my skin care routine, I’ll usually do a little spritz with a face toner from this Brooklyn-based brand called Palermo. It has a very good scent of geranium oil. The founder, Jess [Morelli], is really in essential oils and uses high quality ingredients. I trust his products.

Face oil:
Finally, I’m just going to put on some face oil. I have a bunch of them, but the one I’ve touched the most lately is more of a balm from this Japanese brand called Chidoriya. It contains camellia oil. I really like it when I’m not looking to get too fat which is important for the summer.

Co-Wash Briogeo Avocado and Quinoa:
I have been using it for years and love it. I will be using it about once a week on my hair; I put my hair in sections in the shower and use my fingers to untangle my curls. I find that this wash has a very nice balance of being very, very hydrating, but also having a good glide for detangling.

Yesfolk Body Butter:
Yesfolk, a small family business in upstate New York, makes my favorite kombucha. But they also have this simple, fragrance-free body butter. I ended up putting this on my hair at one point and found it to be the absolute best moisturizer.
If I braid my hair, I’ll use a dab of it.

    Make the brownies:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8 x 8 inch pan with parchment paper or oil the pan. Then, in a large bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup hot melted ghee and 1 1/2 cup coconut sugar. Then, incorporate 1/3 cup non-dairy milk and 3 tbsp. vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients: 1 cup buckwheat flour, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 3/4 tsp. baking powder, 1/3 cup Shroom Shield, and 1/4 tsp. salt. Combine the dry ingredients in the bowl with the mixture of ghee and coconut sugar until well combined. Fold back 1 cup of chopped walnuts. Spread the dough evenly in the pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a fork comes out relatively clean. Let cool for about 10 minutes and enjoy!
