Home bakers taking limited orders to focus on quality
While some of them are already booked this season, some expect to receive orders in the week leading up to Christmas. From taking limited orders, focusing on quality, and delivering gift baskets to their customers, home bakers are doing a lot this season. Shefali Sharma, a resident of Sector 57, Gurgaon, who bakes traditional plum cakes, carrot and nut tea cakes, flax biscuits, among other cakes, shares: “I have been booked this season. Although we expected more orders in the latter part of the season, I am fully booked before that. Seema Jain adds that she is only taking limited orders this season. “I only bake 30+ cakes because it’s a limited stock.”
Another home baker, Chhavi Lath, who lives in Sohna Road, made Christmas baskets for the children. “Parents can purchase a basket for their children that contains a planter, a packet of seeds, a photo frame, Christmas tree-shaped focaccia bread, marshmallows, cookies and a peppermint joystick.”
