The Canadian chocolatier presents another vegan version of a popular chocolate with its new vegan Hawaiian black salt caramel.
VANCOUVER, BC, March 31, 2022 /CNW/ – Purdys Chocolatier continues to give vegan chocolate lovers what they want: a selection of vegan treats as rich in choice and indulgence as their non-vegan counterparts. Offering a vegan alternative to one of their best-selling flavors: Himalayan Pink Salt Caramels, Purdys newest plant-based addition is Vegan Hawaiian Black Salt Caramel.
While caramel is typically made with dairy, Purdys new Vegan Hawaiian Dark Salt Caramel lets chocolate lovers indulge in delicious, chewy caramel made with plant-based ingredients. Customers can also enjoy what’s sprinkled on top: Hawaiian black salt. Using a traditional Hawaiian process, this unique salt is made by harvesting sea salt from the waters surrounding the Hawaiian Islands, then infused with activated coconut shell charcoal, which gives it its distinct black color and smoky flavor . Together, vegan chocolate, vegan caramel and black salt create the perfect balance of creamy, salty and chewy.
Master Chocolatier of Purdys, Rachel McKinley, reveals how the company’s beloved original caramel inspired its vegan counterpart, “Purdys caramels have been famous since the very beginning, in 1907. I relished the idea of a new vegan caramel that honors our tradition of flavor, texture and dedication to craftsmanship,” says McKinley. “It took a while, but we found the right blend of plant-based ingredients to create a new caramel that has the chewiness and decadence of flavor. ‘original. We topped it with a topping of Hawaiian black salt to bring out the flavor – I know our customers will love it!”
This launch comes after the release of their Vegan Sweet Georgia Browns earlier this year, where they first introduced their vegan caramel. It has been widely approved and loved by vegan and non-vegan customers. And now, with this new offering, Purdys continues to adapt to changing demographics that prioritize conscious consumption and wellness for themselves as well as the planet.
“We are thrilled to expand our Vegan line of Purdys Icons after wonderful feedback from our Vegan Sweet Georgia Browns.” said, Kriston Dean, vice president of sales and marketing. “We just knew that by creating more plant-based versions of our best-selling classics, the joy of Purdys can reach more people than ever before. With our new Vegan Hawaiian Black Salt Caramels, we hope to bring as many delicious moments that our signature chocolates have made.”
The Vegan Hawaiian Black Salt Caramels are available in boxes of 16 for $27.00 or a box of 6 for $17.00. Both options are carefully wrapped in recyclable kraft paper.
