WHEN it’s cold and miserable outside, it’s tempting to look for snacks. But they don’t have to be bad for you.
There are healthy options that you can prepare yourself. We try, while our Beauty Editor puts the eye patches to the test.
CHOCOLATE – One of the tastiest “healthy” things I have tried. Prodigy makes a range of delicious plant-based candy bars and recreates classics such as Snickers using half the sugar.
Orange and chocolate taste amazing with superfruit baobab oil and oranges, as well as cocoa butter, coconut sugar, gluten free oats and inulin. I liked it.
189kcal per 35g bar. 16.2% sugar. From £ 1.60 a bar, prodigysnacks.com
CHIPS – Boundless is known for its snack seed packets, but now offers âactivated chipsâ made from iron-rich sorghum and yellow pea flour.
They are “activated” by soaking them to initiate a germination process to release nutrients. The smoky chipotle and lime flavor is great – crisp, smoky, stuffed. 14.4% fat and 99kcal per 23g serving.
From £ 1.62 per 80g bag, weareboundless.co.uk.
YOGURT – Gut Glory is a new range with 100 million live cultures per gram. The strawberry and peach and mango yogurts have added fiber, which is a great idea.
Tasty and creamy, they make a great snack. They have chunks in them, so if you want smooth yogurt this isn’t for you. Four percent fat and 11.1 percent sugar.
The larger 450g fiber strawberry costs £ 1.80 per jar asda.co.uk

BUDGET – Skin Republic Collagen Hydrogel Under Eye Patches (£ 4.49 for three pairs, boots.com): Infused with an intensive anti-aging serum containing collagen, green tea, aloe vera and vitamins A and E.
Easy to apply and sticks well. Gives an instant boost. Can’t say I noticed a lasting effect on fine lines and wrinkles, but it definitely plumped and brightened the eye area. Excellent value too. My favorite.
ENVIRONMENT – Starskin Eye Catcher eye mask (£ 9 for two pairs, lookfantastic.com): A delicate fabric mask under the eyes to reduce puffiness and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Enriched with care serum, coconut juice and licorice root. Difficult to apply because they are so saturated with serum. Once applied I had to stay still to keep them in place. But they work well for lightening the eyes.
LUXURY – Rodial Dragon Blood Jelly Eye Patches (£ 32 for four pairs, lookfantastic.com): Gel patches under the eyes to plump, restore and moisturize.
Infused with dragon blood, a tree sap with anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antibacterial properties. Also contains Hyaluronic Acid to increase skin hydration and Raspberry Ketone Extract for elasticity.
Cooling instantly and after applying for 30 minutes, my under-eye area was brighter.
